Ashnil Samburu Camp
Ashnil Samburu Camp is a luxurious tented camp located in the heart of Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya. It offers an exceptional safari experience, providing guests with a blend of comfort, adventure, and breathtaking views of the wild landscapes and wildlife of the Samburu region. The camp is located along the Uaso Nyiro River, offering a perfect location to view the wildlife that frequents the riverbanks. It’s an ideal place for those seeking both adventure and comfort in the wilderness.
Samburu National Reserve: Situated in northern Kenya, this reserve is known for its unique wildlife species, which are adapted to the arid conditions of the region. It is home to the “Samburu Five” (Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and beisa oryx) and is a great place to experience wildlife that is not commonly found in southern Kenya. Uaso Nyiro River: The camp is beautifully situated by the Uaso Nyiro River, providing stunning views of the water and surrounding areas, which attract a variety of animals, particularly elephants and various antelope species.
Accommodation:
There are a total number of 19 deluxe en-suite tents, 9 with King or Queen sized beds, 7 with twin beds and 3 with triple beds. Each of the exclusive comfortable deluxe tents gives perfect view of the Ewaso Nyiro River, surrounding beautiful landscape and all lives this brown river supports. Every spacious tent consists of a dressing area, sitting area, luggage rack and en-suite facilities to provide a memorable stay close to nature.
E‐mails, internet browsing and general services are available at the reception. Network coverage in the Parks and Reserves are generally weak but we have installed antennas to boost connectivity. Wifi is available but with connectivity limited to a few areas in the camp.
Activities:
- Game Drives: The camp offers morning and afternoon game drives led by experienced safari guides, where guests can explore the wildlife of the reserve, including the Samburu Five and other native species.
- Samburu Village Visit: Guests can learn about the culture and traditions of the Samburu people by visiting nearby villages. The Samburu are a semi-nomadic pastoralist community, and a visit offers insight into their lifestyle, customs, and way of life.
- Bush Meals and Sundowners: For a truly memorable experience, guests can enjoy bush meals or sundowners in the open savannah, surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the area.
- Swimming: The camp has a swimming pool where guests can relax after a day of safari adventures, offering a chance to cool off while enjoying the scenic views.
Ideal For:
- Dry Season (June to October): The dry months are ideal for game viewing as animals tend to gather around water sources, making them easier to spot.
- Wet Season (November to April): While this season is quieter and less crowded, it’s also when the landscape is lush and green. However, some roads in the reserve can become challenging due to rains, so access may be more difficult.
